Electronic Identification Consent
Alex Bank Pty Ltd ABN 13 627 244 848, Australian Financial Services Licence and Australian Credit Licence 510805 (Alex, we, us or our) is required by the Anti-Money Laundering & Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) to verify your identity before providing you with a product or service. This consent document describes certain information that we collect for this purpose. Any such information will be dealt with in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Credit Reporting Policy.
Electronic verification of identity
In order to verify your identity electronically, we will ask for your details (personal information) including:
- name;
- address;
- date of birth; and
- details and copies of your identification documents and other biometric identification information.
You acknowledge that your personal information may be passed on to external organisations including government agencies and credit reporting bodies (CRB). Your personal information may be disclosed to our agents who assist with electronic identity verification process.
The use of your personal information for electronic identity verification does not constitute a credit check or impact your credit standing in any way. A CRB may inform Alex as to whether the personal information provided is a full or partial match with information held on credit information files. Alex cannot rectify any discrepancies on your behalf, but will advise you in writing upon being notified of any discrepancies and will provide contact details of the CRB where you can confirm your details.
Your details will be submitted to the Australian Government’s Document Verification Service (DVS).
The DVS is a national online system that allows organisations to compare an individual’s identifying information with a government record. More information about the DVS is available on their website at https://beta.idmatch.gov.au/.
Other methods of verification
You do not have to agree to electronic verification. You may elect for your identity to be verified in person, however you acknowledge that any additional cost of processing as a result of in-person verification may be passed on to you. We will advise you if we are unable to verify your identity electronically.
Consent
By checking the Electronic Identification Consent box during the application process for any of our products, you agree that:
- the information you are providing to Alex is your personal information and you have authority to provide it to us; and
- you have understood the information set out in this document; and
- you authorise Alex to use and disclose your personal information for the purposes of electronic identity verification as described above.
